Ms. Vitacolonna received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1976 from the State University College at Oswego, New York and a Masters of Social Work from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1980. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1990.
Prior to practicing law, Ms. Vitacolonna was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and worked in New York as a Social Welfare Examiner, and as a social worker in Alcohol Rehabilitation and Medicaid In Home Health Care programs. She was also an adjunct instructor at the State University of New York at Buffalo, College of Health and Human Services. In New York and California, she worked in JCAHO approved hospitals as a medical social worker in the areas of End Stage Renal Disease, Ambulatory Care, Cardiac Surgery and Obstetrics, and was a Director of Social Services. Ms. Vitacolonna has also worked as an advocate on behalf of the developmentally disabled.
Her primary practice area has been in insurance defense litigation for healthcare providers including hospitals, physicians, health maintenance organizations, health-related entities, nursing home and other allied health professionals. From 1990 to 1997 she practiced with the Law Offices of Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O’Keefe & Nichols. She has tried cases in Orange and Los Angeles counties and represented clients in administrative and arbitration proceedings.
In addition to the State Bar of California, Ms. Vitacolonna is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar and the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, Eastern District of California and Northern District of California. She is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management.
